I made a basic texture map in photoshop. still have to paint in special areas like fins, mouth and the fishing rod.

I'm pretty much sure my fishproject will go down by creating a texture. here is another attempt. everything is done in photoshop, but I can´t figure out how to create a fishi like skin.

you need to look at fish reference. Go to the supermarket and buy a fish and look at it (scan it in if you can!!!!) then use that to make a proper texture. at the moment it just looks too random and thrown together without using any reference.

Man I went fishing and caught a fish then photographed the crap out of it. The only problem being I'm doing a Brown Trout and I only managed to catch 2 Rainbows :headbang:

wohooo! thx for fast help buddies. I searched the net for hours and didn´t find even one pleasurable fishPic. I´ll check all very soon. now I have to quit my old job and get myself into one authorized education center for learning maya.

I forced this project to be finished. Texturing was very timeconsuming and I did a real bad job on lightning. I wanted to do some kind of dirt render for emulating swimming particles but didn´t figure out how and light fog made the picture more ugly then the fish actually is. guess I´ll post this pic in the final section to show the whole fish but I think I´ll try some more dramatic shots later.

that´s very easy to do. UVmap the geometry and take care of the UVs not overlapping each other. create a snapshot and map the file into the color channel - maya asigns the alpha channel to transparency. I additionally connected the file to the specular channel. rendered with maya software. have fun with it!
