Introduction to Maya - Modeling Fundamentals Vol 2
This course will look in the fundamentals of modeling in Maya with an emphasis on creating good topology. It's aimed at people that have some modeling experience in Maya but are having trouble with complex objects.

can't see texture maps or select object

Hi there,

I bought some animated creatures in FBX format and imported them into Maya. Somehow I cannot see the textures (by pushing down on 6) nor can I select the object with the arrow cursor.

I can select the model in the Outliner window though.

Thanks for your help,

_Ken

Hi Ken, it appears the object is on a layer with the transparent mode switched on. If you go to the Channel Box / Layer Editor and look at the layers for the scene I think you'll find that a layer has transparency turned on (indicated by a T in a checkbox) clicking on the box will cycle through the various options (R for reference) and then blank for normal. If you go to normal you should be able to select your model and view textures.

Cheers, the Yeti.
