hq texture n resize

hi guys,i use photoshop cs3 i have 2 question which is how to produce a high quality texture for my maya2011 modeling, and how to resize the hq texture and not lose its original quality? tq user added image

I dont think i get it. if you do file>new is there not an option box that pops up. if you want something high res just plug in 4k there. why do you want to resize the texture?
are you resizing a small texture bigger? use the CSI surveillance camera plugin. haha. user added image

?? i want to resize the texture in order to fit the size of my uv model
what do u means by just plug in 4k?

I don't think you need to resize a hq texture to fit a UV model... a 512x512 or a 4k image will equally texture the same object, but with different resolutions of course. Hope that makes sense.

yeah what stwert said...

by 4k, i mean you create a new file and enter 4096 in width and 4096 in height (pixels). click OK and, voila, you now have a 4K texture. user added image
this was only an example tho.

if you want to paint your hq texture then go with at least 2K (2048:2048) aspect ratio file in photoshop with 300 resolution. .if you are using any downloads textures for your model then make sure all textures should be of 300 resolution and if they are not then at least they should be of 2k aspect ration with 150 resolution.

do not ever resize your texture . if you decrease or increase the size of any texture it will loose its original quality.

Reading a tutorial on texturing in Maya will clear up a lot of your questions; especially because your questions are very basic, and would be answered very quickly in one.
