Maya 2020 fundamentals - modelling the real world
Get halfway through a model and find it's an unworkable mess? Can't add edge loops where you need them? Can't subdivide a mesh properly? If any of this sounds familiar check this course out.

retain component spacing not working 2016

Hello Friends

So i am enjoying maya 2016, its great fun and all but ive come across a problem and i apologise if its already been covered. but..

When i select multiple objects and edit their pivot point so i can snap them to the center of the grid to duplicate them across, the pivot points keep their spacing even though retain component spacing is turned off and the axis orientation is set to world. Is there something im missing or is a bug or something?

thanks for the help

the more I Think I know about Maya the less I seem to know about it.

Retain component spacing only applies at the component level. You may have to employ a different strategy (e.g. using the align tools) to get multiple objects aligned.

No worries i will look into the align tools. Found a work around by just grouping all my objects and centering the groups pivot but that might screw up other groups in the scene. user added image .
