This course will look at the fundamentals of rendering in Arnold. We'll go through the different light types available, cameras, shaders, Arnold's render settings and finally how to split an image into render passes (AOV's), before we then reassemble it i

Ok... I'm new around here, but i'm not going to ask anyway :p...

Now back to our little competition project. I got my idea down, with rules and everything else and when you're ready guys just let me know and i'll tell you what i was thinking. I hope you're going to like it as much as me. user added image If you're not ok with it we can always change it, though i'll do this thing anyway. I just think it's far more fun and productive if I work at it in a challenge with you guys.

Ok, ok, here it is. It's not extremely original but i haven't really done something like this before and the models itself will hopefuly turn out cool (especially knowing you guys user added image ). And I was also planing on making a game with this theme somewhere in the close future so this would be a nice start.

The theme for the challenge would be to make a high detail, realistical craft. I'm saying craft, because it doesn't necessarily have to be a space ship. It can be any furturistic vehicle, so long as it flies in some way. This means that it can even be a vehicle in a futuristic town. It can also be convertable if you want.

Of course, it has to be more or less a civilian craft. Meaning, no weapons. It can looks as cool as you want though. The size of the vehicle is entirely up to you. It can be for one passenger or even a thousand.

Now for the tech-limitations: You can build it with whatever you want: nurbs, polys, subds. No poly-count limitation on this one. Texturing is of course highly reccommended. hmm... actually there are no limitations... :lmao: Maybe just our imagination, though on second thought, that's limitless user added image

I await questions or suggestions anxiously. I just know i want to get started on this as soon as possible.

Hummm... well, not exactly my piece of cake, but i'll be in. But, do you think you can wait for until the 24'th of January? Its just 12 more days, and its when this competition ends. Or until both me and magicsy finish?

Aight- so, can this model be highpoly (oh, duh, since u listed nurbs and sub-d's), and can I use 3ds Max for some of the modeling? I would enjoy it much more that way.

Anyway, theres my comments/

Well, i stated that there's no poly-count limit so yes it can be high detail (it's actually recommended). And yes, of course i can wait for this challenge to end.

As for 3ds max i'm fine with it. If Simon doesn't have any objections either, sure.

Oh, one thing I saw.

How is all that light coming in, magicsy? I mean, does this house not have a roof? Is this a new architectural design :p? Where can I find this architect? comments not meant to be rude, more on a comic note.

No, my point is that it needs to have a roof, and that the light needs to come from the window/ lights.
