In this course we're going to look at something a little different, creating technically accurate 3D printed parts.

i didnt bother going to illustrator.., but imported this out of photoshop into maya as an illustrator file.., same thing as you did with a twist

the only way i got anywhere with the curves was to treat them as curves, i used planar surfaes and lofted them

hope this helps.., theres a couple of way.., the link above is very cool too.

Figured it out

So in case other were wondering how to do this(as they are numerous ways)...so I made a path in Photoshop,(can do it in illustrator as well), and I exported the paths out of photoshop. then imported illustrator object as CURVES in Maya, then you can go to surfaces, bevel plus, and there you go...you can choose from a number of beveling options, much like text.user added image

for what its worth.., you can chose/option to bevel on import (by memory) .., apparently thats the way to go..?? you can adjust bevel details in maya.

looks good

group the object and scale to get some interesting results too.

thanks, yes you are correct, i actually tried that, and some very weird things where happening, so this the the most successful route for me, as you probably know maya often time does very odd things, thanks for the help

yea i was having issues with that too, it would play the advertisement but never the video...if you click "app view" it has the little maya icon next to it...you can then go right to the tutorial and pass the ad..
