This course contains a little bit of everything with modeling, UVing, texturing and dynamics in Maya, as well as compositing multilayered EXR's in Photoshop.

video texture

Hi, guys,

do any of you know how to apply a video texture to an image plane?

Michael McKinley use to have a video tut on his old site on how to do it, but since he updated it he seems to have removed it,

do any of you guys have that video tut by any chance?

i checked online and alot of people say you need to use an image sequence, but from what a remember about Michael's tut, i'm sure he just used a regular video clip,

if anyone could help me i'd be very greatful,

I found the video tut that michael did, but i still have a problem,

in his tut when he assigns the video to the image plane, he checks an option called "use frame extention", this however isn't present in maya 2009, it has "use image sequence" instead

i've tried using both a sequence and an actual video,

heres a pic, can anyone please help,

Maya can be pickey about file numbering when it comes to image sequences.

Check that your using a fomat that it can understand.

expression should be
imagePlane1.frameExtension = frame
offset should be at 0 (unless you want an offset)

...but yeah as gster said, your frame list should be name.#.ext

# is 4 frame padding, ie 0001
*NB. it doesn't have to be 4 numbers but should follow the same layout*
