This course will look in the fundamentals of modeling in Maya with an emphasis on creating good topology. It's aimed at people that have some modeling experience in Maya but are having trouble with complex objects.

it will only let me save it as a .mp file.

ok well it got further computing the FG points when i took away the reflective mirror walls but still ran out of memory and quit....

Have you tried switching off final gather all together and then rendering and seeing if it crashes?

yeh I just did that. it renders about half the image (tho its all dark, might be because its only lit with the HDR?) and then stops. I still get the mental ray out of memory warning and it stops

ok finally after all that trouble with memory turns out all i needed to do was to batch render instead! thanks to younglion for pointing that out..legend!user added image

ok its half 2 in the morning so this update is simply the 2 turntables side by side before i move on to modeling the mixer.

ok did a first model of the mixer. Spent most of the time just modeling the sliders and dials. will look to detail it more once my essays and exams are over haha

one thing, after I extruded the slider faces some weird edges appeared on the top face of the mixer that it wont let me delete? even with doing to edit poly>delete edge? hence u can see a dark shaded areas just above the third slider on the right??

any help with this and all crits much appreciated

NEW UPDATES

hey did a full AO render of the current set up. some things to change on the mixer are the weird edges that i mentioned before, the dials on the right need to be spread out a bit more and some basic detail like screws etc
