Maya 2020 fundamentals - modelling the real world
Get halfway through a model and find it's an unworkable mess? Can't add edge loops where you need them? Can't subdivide a mesh properly? If any of this sounds familiar check this course out.

Switching OS From 32-bit to 64-bit

Hello. Using Maya 8.5 on Prescision 690, OS XP-Pro, 2 Gig RAM.

I currently run the XP 32 bit OS and plan to install the 64-bit to enable me to build out the RAM capabilities of the computer. I don't recall if my Maya 8.5 which I bought in 2007 was for a 32-bit OS specifically, or if it will run on either OS. Are there different versions of the program for 32-bit or 64-bit operating systems?

Anyone know?

Thanks, T

Hello,

I've recently done a similar thing, I switched from 32 Bit XP to 64 bit Windows 7 and am running Maya 2008.

I just checked my old 8.5 installation disc though and there's a folder on it called win-amd64 so you should be ok. I can't speak for XP 32 but I haven't had any issues with Windows 7 and Maya 64 bit. Hope that helps!
