Beer glass scene creation
This course contains a little bit of everything with modeling, UVing, texturing and dynamics in Maya, as well as compositing multilayered EXR's in Photoshop.

Car (maybe subaru) in progress

Ok it's just a wheel so far lol, because ive a hit a little prob, i want to crack on with the car and THEN animate it kickin' up some dirt, but with what you can see so far i'm getting a 'Virtual memory low, windows changing size' error half way through rendering, usually resulting in a program shutdown, or sometimes it will finish rendering but lag my system to hell user added image

It only started having trouble when i put the 'discbrake' in, so i'm assuming its the 'holes' in it, approx 46 little nurb tubes (each intersected and trimmed) make the holes in the larger nurbs tube, is this my prob ? or should my system handle that?

user added image i wanted to times this wheel by 4 add chassis/boby/interior and then animate it with sweeping cameras to show off the interior and detail, am i asking too much of my little mid range system ?

or is there a less intensive way of achieving the same discbrake with the same holes?

Any suggestions please anyone?

System specs-

o/s Windows 2000 professional
VIA motherboard (latest 4in1 adapters) installed
pIII gig
256 ram
geforce2 3d prophet gts 32mb
Soundblasterlive 5.1

oh and to your system specs, 256 is not close enough ram for maya. you should (if you can) spend some bucks and upgrade to at least 512 mb. ram is not that expensive right now, but you benefit lots from that. cpu should be ok, i only have a athlon 1.33 ghz and this works too, but i hae 768 mb ram and no problems.

hope that helps

Tis now a Jpeg sir user added image

Thanks for the info on the RAM dude, i'll get some tomorrow, it's as cheap as chips.

If an extra 256 ram will allow me to achieve my said project (with animation), then i'm gonna be chuffed ta bits

you need to carefully balance your processor with your RAM... having 1 GB of the fastest RAM won't help you if you have a li'l Pentium 2 400.
