Complex UV Layout in Maya
Over the last couple of years UV layout in Maya has changed for the better. In this course we're going to be taking a look at some of those changes as we UV map an entire character

Nice going man!!

Good to see that you've adapted the tutorial to your own design.

this one is looking real nice. the only things i see wrong is where his front leg connect to his body it should look a little smoother imo, and the body look a bit boxy(hope you will understand). the proportions are good and it looks like a dog lol. overall its looking really good. i agree with gster123 its nice to see someone adapting the tutorial.
question:for how long have you been working with maya.

welcome to simplymaya dude!

keep up the good work!

Hi,
Thanks for the great feedback..
mc-fleury...I totally agree with you and I will get to work on fixing the boxy look....I also thought the front leg looked kinda whack too...hehe...
Great to have other eyes to help...user added image

I wanted a staffy/boxer kind of dog and it proved a little more difficult with its mouth as its cheeks hang low and flappy over its jaw..

I've been using MAYA for about 1 year...
Thanks again..

cool - great work - definitely agree about the front leg, but this is looking nice. I especially like that stumpy tail. Should look cool textured.

Thanks mmoore5553!

Yeah I agree with you too..
I think because it started out cartoony like the tutorial and then started getting more realistic with the texture and all..

The face and eyes could do with some attention, as with the feet and ears...(and still has a cartoon collar!)

But I will do some more work on it and see if I can get him better... But i think it is some of my better work these days.

The model turned out quite clean and it made the texturing a much easier chore!!

yep i agree with you but if you like it that is what matters ... and as long as your work gets better tht is what matters ... when it gets worst then get mad lol

I like this a lot - the expression on his face is great. I am just not sure about the color of his coat - it seems a little strong to me. Also, as you said, the feet need some work - I think once you define his feet a little better, this will look really cool.
