cube dividing into smaller cubes animation

hi there,

can you please tell me me an easy step by step way to animate a cube opening up in two (without parting just like doors-like) an then again and again?

it's my my very first animation anywords for COMPLETELY STUPID PEOPLE would be very much appreciated.

Method 1: Write a script to do that

Method 2: Create a bunch of the smallest size cube necessary, and group them together into larger cubes. Then just key the rotation as the larger "cube" gets subdivided. Hope that helps.

Having trouble envisioning what you are trying to do from your description.

Can you draw something on a napkin or something and scan it to try and give a better idea of what you are wanting to accomplish?
