Intro anim_for Demo_WIP

Opener to demo reel, useing vhs video for reference, Cirque de solei "Alegria". I just spent the last hour blocking in the poses. I want to do something different in my reels opener to seperate myself from the rest. I'll upload the vid w/music in a few days when i have time off from work.

On my second pass I will get the timing right. I am using Radient Squares free rig. My only complaint it the back setup, what a pain when rotating, because she is very flexible.

I finished blocking in the poses. I have the timing right, now it is just a matter of putting in the inbetweens , adjusting the arcs here and there and adding weight. I was able to load both the vid and the playblast into After Effects so it was easier to adjust the keys in the dopesheet to match the timing.

Another revision, I finially had some spare time to work on it some more. I am just going back and cleaning up the keys, curves and arcs. I did have a problem reguarding the way the back is setup, because she is so flexible when I go and roate the back the poly cubes for the spine get a bit out of alingment. I plan on adding an additional 5 more seconds to it when I am done. Something different.user added image

The animtion is not to bad.. the only thing that really bugs me is the camera cut....

Yet another revision, this pass I cleaned up the arm , wrist, back, and legs.I haven't seen anything that jumps out at me, so I am moving onto the fingers and head.

Kurt: If I left the camera from the persp at the begining you
would end up seeing her back for the last half of her movement.
The way I have it set up now is it cuts to the front when she
spins around.

I'll upload the playblast w/sound in a few days user added image

I extended it in a few areas to smooth out the animation and arcs to get rid of the jerkyness. I am almost finished. I still have a small amount of keys to clean up. I ended up redoing a few areas. I wish I would have set up Radient's rig with ik/fk. user added image

Fixed the leg when it swings around. I slowed it down and makes a huge deference. Unfortunatly the way the back is rigged up I will not be able to fix the spines. As for the sound I will upload it tomorrow, and add it to my playblast.
All that is left to clean up are the fingers and head.

Let me know if you have anyproblems viewing this new playblast.

it looks ok, it just feels a little too rushed to me. there's no effort in the movements and no feeling in it at the moment. Try taking a little more time to refine each of the phases to give it more "depth".

Ps about that camera cut:

a> It annoys me too user added image
b> it breaks a basic cinematographic rule. Dont cross the camera line. Imagine an invisible line vertically down the middle of the screen. If the camera starts on one side of that it should remain there. Otherwise it disorientates the viewer. I really dont think you need that cut at all.

Finished cleaning it up. I did a test render. Just threw together some lighting. I noticed that there are just a handfull of keys that need there curves adjusted. But in the mean time here is a test render that I put together. I'll post the ref vid in a few days, that way you guys can see what i am going off of, it looks fast but that's the way it is supposed to beuser added image

I decided to stray a bit from the animation and extended it out in a few areas adding in 2 more seconds. I also got rid of the camera cut. Comments and crits appreciated.

Here is my pretty much the final animation. I removed the three inner back geomentry joints because they get twisted and give the false impression that the back is not aligned and make the animation look rough instead of smooth.
