wicked stuff guys u two are about the best modelers ive seen on sm no disrespect to anyone else as your all good but kurt and mike are just an inspiration to me anyway, and i guess everyone else new to Maya ....cool.
lame question which is the best method for character modeling i mean should i start with a cube or polygon sphere?like the characters lads good luck in your comp:-)

I usually start with a cube or cylinder or something. user added image Everyone has different ideas about methods, though. It's just a matter of choosing what works best for you!

I dont get this, how can you get such a smooth surface with so few faces? Is her torso made of ordinary polygons? It looks so easy, yet, I don't get it. I mean... just a few faces... and chazam.......

I use Division = 2
and uncheck Keep Border

If you notice her necklace in the wire image.... that is what the whole thing looks like after smoothing. lol

I've been pouring over mountains of por... er... reference material, and I think the torso is pretty much to the end of my focus. I still am going to tweak it later, I'm sure, but I think I'll go on to the arms, now. user added image
