Weird gray lines

I've got weird grey lined mesh that I can't select in my model... It looks just like my model, but I can't manipulate it.

I copied and mirrored it, and I don't know what they are. When I export the model, they are there and the other application (Pepakura) treats it like a whole model.

How do I get rid of them?

screenshot would help, but at a guess you've probably extruded the entire model without moving the resulting faces

what have you been doing up til now?

that's a "Ch" pronounced as a "K"

Computer skills I should have:
Objective C, C#, Java, MEL. Python, C++, XML, JavaScript, XSLT, HTML, SQL, CSS, FXScript, Clips, SOAR, ActionScript, OpenGL, DirectX

I'm having problems taking a screenshot (it comes into photoshop all black and weird)... but if it were the faces thing, how would I delete them?

I'll post a screenshot later.

It's pretty easy to imagine though... imagine a model, say a cube, that has the dark blue lines when unselected. And next to it to the side is the same cube but with grey lines. I can't interact with the gray model in any way that I can figure out.

Sounds like a reference or template object? In your layer editor (bottom right of screen in channel box) remove layers you don't need or cycle through R/T/blank to get out of template mode for that layer.
