You could animate the wings and give them a motion blur.

Original and realistic looking, did you use draw polygon and extrude on the raised detial? Is the fence on the stairs mesh or maped?

Thanks wokendreams, nearly all the geometry is either modelled from a cube , cylinder or sphere nothing is modelled with draw ploygon.
The fence on the stairs is a mesh as we are not allowed to texture the model, everything in the model is polygons.

very kind of you to say arran thankyou , I am working on detailing out the bodywork and head right now didn't want to show progress untill I have completed the work.
I am in a quandry as how to pose this model for a final since to get it all in the render it has to be so far away you can't see any detail at all ......lol.

i think an easy way to get past the 'wings look organic' deal is just to add more hinges where the sections branch off... i think it works really well coming off of the actual model, and stemming from that would just add to the mechanical nature of the beast without detracting from the 'at a glance' organic look.

after that, it's a wonderful model, and i'm excited about the level of detail that's been put into it as far as making it appear as a man-driven machine. cheers, jsprogg!

hehe I am on to it , I have already added some mechanical joints to the wings and it does enhance it a little.

this whole contest was a great idea! mixing nature and REALLY-old-school technology with futuristic ideas was superb, i only wish i could have entered (but it's the last day for modeling, so bollocks to that...)

so i cling to the models/entries that really adhere to the rules (the idea of a wasp/bee instead of a spider - like in wild wild west - is golden), and seeing the detail of each model slowly revealed is breathtaking. i can't say i'm gonna cheer someone on as the contest is still going on, but your model is fantastic and well thought-out. nice job!

I'm really loving the style your putting into this model. You're really doing a fantastic job. I've grown very anxious to keep comming back to your thread to see if you've posted more updates. Your modeling ranks pretty high on my list.
