Maya 2020 fundamentals - modelling the real world
Get halfway through a model and find it's an unworkable mess? Can't add edge loops where you need them? Can't subdivide a mesh properly? If any of this sounds familiar check this course out.

jeez...for short hairs, really? Maya fur couldnt be more simpler. Just use the help in Maya...

Shave is the best for setting up advanced hair styles generally.

Keep it simple...Ive never seen the point of jumping to another software type/plugin until you understand the basics, which essentially is what Maya fur is....very basic.

Also...you need good uvs to make it work and sit nicely

Unless you are planning to get in really tight and have independent lash motion a simply curled plane with transparency is about the easiest method.

Here is something I found a while back. It's old and if I were going the individual lash root I would follow Jay's advice and go with maya fur before investing in S&H.

Yea i'm still exploring things right now, ive yet to really do any kind of hair modeling etc. so this is really new territory for me. I myself am more of an animator than a modeler so for me this is almost like finding pandoras box...
