creating ocean wake

I have been playing around with the ocean wake creator for a while now but I can't ever seem to get good results. has anyone played around with it that can tell me how to use it correctly.
I have the ocean then I click the creat wake button. then i play with the settings but so far the best i have gotten was a rectangle with horrid looking lines in it.

Well, my first part here is the docs exlanation:

Create an Ocean wake
To place a Wake fluid in an Ocean:
Create an Ocean by selecting Fluid Effects > Ocean > Create Ocean.
An Ocean appears in your scene view.

Create a wake by selecting Fluid Effects > Ocean > Create Wake > .
The Create Ocean Wake options window appears.

Set the wake options. See Fluid Effects > Ocean > Create Wake.
Do one of the following:
Click Create Ocean Wake to place a Wake fluid container in the current Ocean.
The Create Ocean Wake options window closes.

Click Apply to place a Wake fluid container in the current Ocean.
The Create Ocean Wake options window remains open.

Click Close to disregard any changes made to the Create Ocean Wake options, and close the Create Ocean Wake options window.
Set the Wake attributes.

Seems pretty straightforward, but What type of geometry are you using to effect either the ocean, or the wake fluid?

Just curioususer added image

While on the topic of oceans....how do you make an ocean interact with objects in a scene...for example, if you had a building or a dam that was in the water and wanted to see the water crashing against the side...I've tried to "Make Collide" option but get no changes (but "Make Collide" does work with ponds). Any ideas?

I believe for that to work, your fluid needs to be an emitter, instead of an already existing solid.

Will double check...
