Maya 2020 fundamentals - modelling the real world
Get halfway through a model and find it's an unworkable mess? Can't add edge loops where you need them? Can't subdivide a mesh properly? If any of this sounds familiar check this course out.

Apache AH-64 WIP

Hi all,

It's now 0645 in the morning, and I've now completed parts 1-4 of KBrown's excellent Apache AH-64 tut, and this is what I've got so far. Not much yet, but c&c still welcome of course... I'm off to bed! Feeling a bit groggy from staring at the screen all day (and night) user added image

Apache AH-64

Picture will be updated as I get along...

So many things are being planned for this so honestly I don't know. Gotta think carefully what to include and how... doing some animation/rendering/compositing tests at the moment...

If you buy it with the discount I don't think it's that expensive...

Doing part 12 ATM, and I've run into my first problem.

It's an extrude issue, and the problem should be obvious from this picture:

The faces sticking out should be going in, but they won't, no matter wich way I extrude... Anybody know whats wrong?

Might as well post a few updates while I'm at it:

updated the thing on the top/back:

Added these ridges (or whatever they are) down the back:

Currently working on the tail as you can see above...

Check your selection carefully before extruding. Those tiny faces are sometimes bitch to select. Sometimes you miss few, sometimes you get an extra face or two in the selection -> will cause all sorts of nasty things when you extrude...

Well, something really weird was going on with the tail, so I'm gonna redo the whole thing.

I was hoping to get this done before I go off to the Roskilde Festival on monday and come back to join next month's competition, but I guess that's not gonna happen...

I've just finished part 14 of the tutorial and, obviously, the cockpit still needs some tweaking...
