animate explosions

How do you keyframe attriubutes on and off? I want to animate an explosion similar to the scene in Starwars (but much simpler)where the pod racer hits the ground, explodes and breaks up into loads of tumbling pieces. Whats the best way to animate explosions, any ideas?

Not true!!!

The steps are the same in Maya 4.0.
You really don't need the scene file to learn how to do ituser added image
I just saved my scene at the end of the tut for referenceuser added image

Just make a poly model of a basic ship, and you can follow right along!

Enjoy m8!
