Complex UV Layout in Maya
Over the last couple of years UV layout in Maya has changed for the better. In this course we're going to be taking a look at some of those changes as we UV map an entire character

Cheers BMS !!user added image Thank you for your words of inspiration! Those 2 renders are almost final renders. I still need to tweak the lighting a bit, and I still haven't found the furturistic city pic yet, The ones I have found are too small, too blurry, or have a watermark on them...bummer. I may just submit new renders with that warehouse again when I'm finished with the tank.

Excellent work THX1138 - I actually really like the new background - i think it's working really well with the tank - the greyish blue and white of the apartments really plays off well against your vehicle.

Good job mate! user added image

Cheers arran!user added image I was going to try to model an enviorment for the tank since I could not find the city pic that I needed. I got caught up with some unexpected hours at my theater.

That pic that the tank is composited into, I cant tell if it's an office building, an appartment complex or a wierd style of wharehouse. I piced that pic because the drab colors went well with the tank and it kind of had a military look to it. Plus there was no paved parking lot.

yeah, nice job mate and good choice of background image - it sort of looks like an apartment block to me, like the tank belongs to one of the residents. I really like your final image. The contrast of the tank with the drab surroundings really works well and your compositing of the two images is very effective.user added image

Thanks t1ck135!user added image It will be intresting to see who wins this one. I hope david ( the head cheese of this site ) gets back soon and decides on a winner. Anyway, while we are waiting, mabe we could start a mini challenge, and get mike to give out a site award icon for the winner. It would not be a physical prize, just a recognition award. I think it could boost member participation here at Simply Maya.
