Maya for 3D Printing - Rapid Prototyping
In this course we're going to look at something a little different, creating technically accurate 3D printed parts.

Space Soldier

Well, my very first W.I.P post here on Simplymaya!

This has mostly been from my head, with a bit of inspiration from the Starcraft marine and Warhammer 40k Space Marine art stuff.

The arms look a bit on the skinny/short side, but other than that; good model.

Update! About an hours worth of work. I gave him hands and re-did the shoes.

Now that I have added on these things, I am at a little bit of a stand still on how to add more detail. I want to get his body smoother looking, more flowing, but I want to keep the sharp details in some areas which would be screwed up if I were to smooth the model or convert it to Sub-D's.
Tips are welcome user added image

You can keep a lot of detail when you smooth a polygon object by using the Split Polygon or Insert Edge Loop tool.

Say if you had a cube, and wanted the top side to stay flat, you could add a edge loop right under the top edge.
This extra edge would keep the top from smoothing out too much.

..I hope that made sense.
