Maya for 3D Printing - Rapid Prototyping
In this course we're going to look at something a little different, creating technically accurate 3D printed parts.

Export/Import Problem from Maya to Maya ?

Hello friends !

I´ve modeled a little airplane in one scene file.
In an extra scene file, I do have a hdri setup.

Now, I´ve selected in my first scene file, my full airplane, and exported this as an extra .mb file.

After that, I open the hdri scene file, and import the airplane.

But what happened ?

On the wings, I´ve trimmed out some things, which I can see clear in my modelling scene file. But after importing into my hdri scene, the trimmed parts are not to see ?

Normally, there should be soe holes for the gear, but the holes in the wings, are away.

Hmm, I´ve checked in the outliner all my things, and each object is a sepaat object, all is ungrouped. So I don´t know what the problem is.

thx for every little help,
bernhard

You could try referencing (Edit -> Reference editor) the file instead of importing it.
