Project curves on polys

Can the "project curves on surface" function be duplicted to be used in polys somehow? Is there a way to get the same result but instead of doing it on nurbs you do it on polys?

Curve projections are a NURBS-only function. You can get the curve onto a poly mesh by making the mesh live and then drawing your curve on it. Not exactly the same, but it might work for you.
