Do a google of "convert mesh to obj". a couple links seemed to look promising.

The issue is I do not know if ".mesh" format is a standard or is application specific. I have never seen .mesh as an output type for any applications I have used. I did see some mentions of blender and lightwave.

But the idea is you want to get the .mesh into either .obj or .fbx and then import that into maya.

Here is a thought...If blender can read .mesh you can download blender for free it's at blender.org and then I know blender has a obj export option.

So import the mesh into blender and export it out of blender in obj and then import the obj to maya?

i tried importing one into blender on a friends computer but it wouldn't find the file so i dunno how accurate that information really is or if there's some kind of extra step to it :/

Where exactly is this ".mesh" coming from?

I think this is making it clear that .mesh is not a standard. It sounds like several apps might have a .mesh output format but I am starting to believe that these are all application specific.

So unless we know what application created the .mesh files then it is going to be hard to come up with something that might convert them.

i dunno how they made the file but from what ive gathered is that the .rig file is something you can use to import the already made rig for the model. I got it off of someones DA site. From what ive seen .mesh is a proprietary format but can be converted to an obj.

there is an app called xps from xnalara it's a posing studio that outputs .mesh files, the program functions are terrible to use most people are using blender and 3dmax, but I can't stand blender it's backwards compared to using maya, and I would like to ask for a maya 2015 .mesh importer as well. thanks
