Maya 2020 fundamentals - modelling the real world
Get halfway through a model and find it's an unworkable mess? Can't add edge loops where you need them? Can't subdivide a mesh properly? If any of this sounds familiar check this course out.

Underwater Scene...

I'm new to Maya and trying to create an underwater scene.
I found a great tutorial in the web on how to do it in Max. It achieves the look I'm going for.
It would be cool if somebody could figure out how to translate it to Maya.
I would post the link here, but I'm thinking that might be a conflict of interest to Simply Maya being that SM exists from selling video tutorials. I don't know.
It's just a regular tutorial, if nobody minds I'll post it.
I attached a picture from the max tutorial.

U can probably duplicate that with 2 planes, the top one with a transparent texture and the botom one modelec like the floor then a environment fog. Light source from the top, my opinion user added image

Thank you Dragonsfire, I'll give that a try. Right now I have a more immediate problem. I'm making this cartoon jelly fish thing and I have no idea what I'm doing. The problem is the eyes. I just want simple white cartoon eyes with the black circle.
As you can see on the picture the eyes are lit up big time.
I do want a little glow, but they are emitting light or something.
I can't seem to make this go away.
I tried using the ramp to put the image on it, but I can't get that to work either.

I tried the diffusse, when I take it down, the eyes look like pearls.
That jpg above didn't do it justice, this one looks a little better.
It looks like there's light coming out of the eye sockets.
Back to the old drawing board.

By the way, I appreciate you seasoned vets helping out us begginers and having the patients to put up with our annoying questionsuser added image
