Complex UV Layout in Maya

c++ runtime library/ runtime error

I saw that some other people were getting this error, but didn't know if anyone had figured anything out.

I've been getting this error a lot on a scene I am attempting to render with Mental ray( final gather and caustics.) It only happens about half the times I try to render, but the error has been increasing lately. the scene isn't overly complex, and I never seemed to get there error with 4.0 or 4.5. The computer I am working on now has 5.0.1 installed, 1 gig of Ram, Win XP, geforce quadro 4 900xgl.

I would appreciate any help, this is really started to get on my nerves.

(also, it seems that I have been getting the "unable to start thread: not enough storage available" error a lot lately as well. I have no idea why)
