suddenly slow in shaded mode

Anyone has any ideas why my maya 6.5 suddenly behaves VERY slow in shaded mode? Even with a simple box it gets very slow when zooming in? Tried re-install but the problem still remains. It worked fine a couple weeks ago.

I have a Radeon 9600XT. I don't know exactly when it started... but I tried the Omega drivers and the newest ATI-drivers with the same result.

Have you:

- installed any new software or updates recently?
- installed any new plugins or scripts?
- tried rolling back the OS to restore point prior to the problem?
- had any problems with other software that may be graphic instensive?
- had power interruption while the computer is on recently?
- had any slow downs other than in shaded mode?
- any other symptoms or information that might shed light on the cause?
