Selecting Vertex

OK silly question but i followed a tutorial and must of selected an option and forgot where it was to turn it off, basically what happens is when selecting a vertex it automatically selects the opposite one and mirrors the transformation i do, how do i turn it off?

you've made an instance duplicate of your model, which allows you to model both sides at the same time. select half of your model, delete it and then duplicate the other half making sure that you have instance turned off.
