DISPLACEMENT MAP/NORMAL

HI guys im modeling a low res mesh of a human form the thing is i kinda cant find the difference between a normal map and a displacement...SO im confused which method to use to get the best visual look for the low-res mesh

displacement actually alters the mesh, increasing tesselation and such. if you want low poly mesh, stick to normal maps.
