Pivot Problems?

Could someone help me please with the pivot? It strays about and it's not central to the object. Is there a way to reset it, or make it central? I have a feeling its Local and Global but not sure how?

Thanks
Terry

select the object then look under the modify menu at the top of the UI and click center pivot.

you could also press the insert key and manually position the pivot wherever you like. Handy for animation or duplicating purposes.

Note that SNAP TO functions such as curve, grid, vertex work with the pivot movements.
