This course will look at the fundamentals of rendering in Arnold. We'll go through the different light types available, cameras, shaders, Arnold's render settings and finally how to split an image into render passes (AOV's), before we then reassemble it i

Face Selection mode and extrude issues

I'm working on the Apache tutorial using Maya 2011.
When I choose face mode, it highlights the whole region till the next cut line. So, I can't highlight the vertices of on the edge only like he's doing in the video.

Wild guess here, press the 'b' key. Chances are, you turned on soft selection.

That's what I thought at first, but it wasn't it. I had checked for that before posting here.

Or we could redirect to the FAQ and I would get all the points.

But back to the question, one other thing to check is reflection or symmetry.

Another thing

I made another cut right next to the edge and went from there. Although that help me figure out why it was like that but I've moved past this point for now. Thank you!

Though now, I'm stuck at another point. Extrude was working fine for me and all and I don't believe I pressed anything I shouldn't have, but it doesn't extrude inward anymore. Both ways (z-Direction) extrude it outward starting from its origin, it starts going outward inside of within the object. I did the same thing two minutes earlier and it was fine. What could have possibly gone wrong?

I've added a screen shot of when I was trying to extrude inward. I could use scaling to work around it, but I don't want to keep working around things without understanding the tools provided.

There are also a couple of screen shots for when I was trying to select the edge faces that I was talking about previously. I can't ignore it anymore at the step I'm at right now.
