If i send a ztool to someone could they bash out a 32-bit maya displacement map for me? I'm using zbrush on a mac and there is no way to get the displacements yet.

Theres a snippet in 3D world regarding it saying that the mac release is a stopgap untill 3.5 comes out on both windows and mac at the same time.

With all the whooharr I bet pixologic are wishing they just didnt drop the mac version.

yeah i just read the article, damn thats really quite crap for the mac community. they should update the software accordingly alongside the pc version, otherwise its almost downmarketing the product on the other platform.

I was also surprised to know there isnt a Linux version either, I went back to Redvision last week and they have changed the pipeline over to Linux but I had to have a window machine to run Zb on so they changed it for me and integrated the machine into the pipe

Thats what I'm considering, Linux, though the benafits are balanced with the problems, all in all though the OS is a platform to run what you need so I'll stick to what I can get everything what I need on.

Running VM's in my mind is like having a dog and barking yourself.

Hey Steve,

I was just about to PM you.

Had a bit of a revelation at work and got given permission to use the PCs in the commercials department. Which is cool!

I also had a bit of a think about the way i do my zbrushing and feel i can improve my sculpting technique. This is what i have so far, but i still want to make some alphas for it. I was going to make various alphas from a texture i started making for the head. I was getting lazy i think, and not really matching the zbrushing to the guys features. I think thats a problem with zbrush... you get carried away on a tangent!

Any thoughts on my sculpt so far?

ahh nice one.

The sculpt looks pretty good, I would get some eyes in there though to give a sense of feel to the dude, having eyes makes a huge difference to the overall "feel" of the sculpt, if that makes sense.

Yeah Alphas are cool! Mail me, I've got quite a few that I've gathered if you need them.
