Maya 2020 fundamentals - modelling the real world
Get halfway through a model and find it's an unworkable mess? Can't add edge loops where you need them? Can't subdivide a mesh properly? If any of this sounds familiar check this course out.

August Challenge - Spoiler - Normal

Even though my models are still pretty lame I'm promoting myself to the normal section this time. I feel that if I managed to spend some time on this challenge I could do something quite good.

Anyway, to kick things off. No mad scientist's lab would be complete without a full set of chemistry equipment.

I tried using a GI joe script, and the bottles all came out mottled. Does anyone know how I can fix that?

Nice, you are friend to the revolve too, eh? user added image

I cant help you with the GI Joe settings, I havent had that problem. Did you change any of the default settings? I had a screwy render when I tried to use directional lights with it.

maybe I got a dodgy script. I can't remember where I got it now. I left everything as default and it came out like that.

I link to one that is known to be good would be nice.

As for revolve, I admit we are getting better acquainted. user added image

I had that when my faces were a bit overstretched once but it didn't look quite the same. I have a working version for Maya 4 which I can send you if you want.

yeah looking good here! I really like the test tube rack. What sort of final look will you be going for? e.g. cartoony, film noire (that could be cool!), photo real?

I hope to go for dark eerie feel.

but it'll probably be my lame lighting and rendering that let me down.
