I, Robot

I just walked in the door 3 minutes ago from seeing I, Robot...

all I have to say is....WOW!!!! user added image

1st...the Movie is better than the critics say IMHO....I liked it A LOT....very entertaining

2nd...the graphics are amazing(done by Digital Domain and WETA)

3rd...the animations are mind boggling

4th...I was giddy during the fight scenes...so awesome

They put so much detail into the robots...you can see through the semi-tranparent skin and actually watch every little piece as it articualtes...while it talks or moves...I was drooling over that...

Loved it(animation moreso than the movie...but the movie still rocked) user added image

i was just watching a video about it on the net and it shows them animating the robot, using MAYA user added image
Also shows them putting the layers over the robot :

adding the neck thingy (think she says chair prongs?)
robot shell and neck
specular reflection and refraction
diffusion
specular reflection again

make it sound so easy...

I want to see it.

seraph, haha, ya. Don't all the behind the scenes and product demonstrations make things look so easy. I think that is why most people think what we do is easier than it is. I love the attitute that the computer does all the work.

It was very entertaining. I was not as impressed with some of the compositing job or even the character animation. But I love the robot's eyes though...amazing emotion.

I have to agree that the preview looked prety bad BUT the movie is much better! The story is good, acting good and its so refreshing to see a movie that is LOGICAL! Heros and bad guys dont do stupid stuff for ne reason, seems to me that they really read the script a few times to make everything fit. And there was just 2 products placement in the whole movie, how refreshing is that?

To sum it up, I liked it and it offers a lot of food for thought.

Converse shoes and the Hitachi soudn system. I cant believe that I forgot the car... If it would be 3 products, still way bellow the 'normal' movie.

I saw it and thought it was pretty good. Sure its not an epic novel brought to film but if you love CGI then its a must see flick.

OMG I totally forgot the Converse shoes...

They only show like 4 closeups, and acknowledge it about 10 times in the movie...and say "Classic 2004 Converse" etc....haha
