Update: Well at this point almost all of the model has been redone lol. This is where I got it this weekend. I like it a lot but I think it may look to organic. I will stew on it for a day or two to figure out what I will do I may be able to fix that with the texture and bumpmap because I do like the smooth look...CC would be great!

I have to agree with that. The organic look is much harder to pull of than a machine look. Atleast for me. I beleive it tends to give your machine more character type qualities. It allows you to introduce organic nuances for emotional content during animation.

Thats nice texturing.. Did u UV map it and do it in photoshop or was it done using Maya paint ?

THANKS EVERYONE!!!

I have to get my modivation back to get on this again. We are in for a snow storm this weekend so I may have some updates because I will be stuck in the house all weekend, minus the time me and my daughter go sledding user added image

As for the texture uberstonks, I used the 3D paint tool in Maya. I also made a few custom brushes for it to get the rusty look. I just love the 3D paint tool!!

I still need to work on the Spec layer of the texture. I also want to add a nother layer over top of the color that will tone down the rust a bit.

Thanks again everyone and I hope to have some new Updates as well as some animation soon.

I think rusty usually looks better on square metal plates kinda stuff.. but still very nice model user added image

I think the rusty look is great... Makes a nice change

I think the most impressive part is the particle ball that is fires and the way it bounces/disperses when it hits the object.. very cool.. How did you do that ?

i like the rusty look but i think there is WAY too much rust. you need some more unrusted metal in there i think. looks really great though.
also another thing i was thinking of when i made my mech (nothing compared to yours) is that having those wires uncovered on the legs is kinda dangerous for the mech user added image one cut of those wires and the entire leg could be useless
