selecting faces by texture?

is there a way to select faces on an object using a particular texture? Basically, a select by texture function???? Where I am running into trouble is that I only want to do this on one object in the scene so select by material does not work because it selects the faces on all objects using that texture.

thanks in advance for any help.

create a set that has only those faces selected, then select the set members when you want to access it. There is no select by faces function as far as I know (you could wirte one in MEL if you really need it)
