How to make animated water

Hello!
I havea problem. I need to create an animated water texture, so I was wandering if it is posible to make water with Maya, and then using renderer make some pics, and join them into an animated water? Is this posible?

Which game? Likely it would be better to use the game's facilities to create water, rather than Maya.

You would be looking at the F1 help and then the fluid section. That is if you have unlimited. If you don't then you have to do it the old fashioned (and faster rendering) way with geometry and shaders. Look at kbrowns Andrea Gail thread for an example of stormy water.
