6 Sided Poly - what are the implications

I've started cleaning up my poly mesh on my model and I've managed getting rid of all 3 and 5 sided edges, however I have 2 six sided edges and I'm wondering what are the implications if I leave them as is.

Cheers
Paul

well don't know if it will look right when smoothed but they will all be quad after that anyway. Also if you plan on smoothing it, it will distort the texture I belive. I can show ya a simple way to get rid of that.. or 2 also if you want. makes more polys though.

Thanks Pony,

I would love any example you can offer. I'm still very new to this and the Spitfire is going to be my first complete model.

Thanks
Paul

BTW: Love your new WIP user added image

ok, well first off its a really small corner of the model so you might not see any benifit from worying about this. But I know I tend to try for perfection.. LOL

when it smooths it looks fine as you have it btw. I normaly will say that the only time to really wory about something like this is if it gives you a texture problem when smoothed, or when its smoothed and the edges are not hard enough for you. Changing what is there will afect how the smooth shapes out.

that said. on the image, I recreated it. A I lost the screen cap so I just drew them in.. you can just have the edges contenue around, B is much like what you have. and C is yet a nother way to make that all quad. You might want to try C most.

Thanks a Million Pony,

I used option A last night before seeing your reply. It fixed the problem, but complicated things further down the wing. When I saw your post this morning I couldn't believe option A. Man I feel so dumb for not thinking of that :o

In any case Option C did the trick like a charm and still kept the wing shape I was aiming for.

THANK YOU user added image

Are there any examples to these types of solutions one can refer to ?

Cheers
Paul
