Hypershade help

how do I import a file such as a jpeg or bmp into hypershade? When I do file-> import i just get a image of the image itself in some fcheck thingy.
pls help a nub user added image

I might be misunderstanding the question, but if you want a file texture, create a blinn or lambert and click the checkered box beside the color attribute in the attribute editor. Then click file in the pop-up box and browse to your jpeg or bmp. Hope that helps.

nm figured it out! thx tho i wouldnt of found it without you giving me the intail direction
