It should light whatever it can reach. You can tweak with those setting upping them and such to make them illuminate and glow more.
I've seen the iron Giant before and I don't know if you're going totally like the original or what but his eyes didn't light too much just enough so that they could be seen in the dark. But you could be going for something different! user added image Anyways hope this helped even if not for this model! Later

ello,

just want opinions on this texturing - I am going to have 2 versions of the robot in the final image, this one and the usual brown one.

cheers

NICE! But i think the ball joints of the arms should be smoothed out. Also, the round part of the head should be smoothed.

I like the chrome look, but the brown texture gives him a more "durable" look to him.

I agree the brownish was more tough but the crome looks cool! Also smooth the balljoints like Ultragames said! And on the head maybe just soften the normals on the edges. That is a problem that happens to me on every Gundam made so far. Great model mate!

wicket I am using your idea and a point light, the incandescence and glow didn't seem to light anything up, ao I just used a very low intensity point light.

It's just the silver shader from highend3d - made by emmanuel campin(GI_Joe guy) - it's pretty nice - I needed to knock down the reflectivity (change the ramp)and chnged the anistopic material slightly, cause it was frickin bright!!!!

Here is what I would do, personaly.

Render him, in chrome texturing, with out the glowing eyes. Then render him with the glowing eyes, Then use Photoshop to put the glowing eyes, on the first render. What will this do? Keeps the reflective shinny chrome look, with out having the red glowing eyes reflecting in the body.

But hey, thats just me.

looking good.

ello,

well here's the start of my final image creation - this is the basic shot - have to add scenery, change the camera angle, add a bit of motion blur and some general tweaks.

any comments?

cheers
