This course contains a little bit of everything with modeling, UVing, texturing and dynamics in Maya, as well as compositing multilayered EXR's in Photoshop.

Reflection

Hello!

I got 2 reflective objects.
When one looks at one of them, one can see the other reflactive object, but not the reflactions of the environment on this 2nd object ... how do i get this?

and by the way, how can i do indirect illumination (that´s, what it was called in BMRT). for example: i got a disco-ball, one light lightning the disco ball up and an environment, which should be lit up by the rays reflected by the disco ball ...

Thanks for any help

Ulrich

for the first problem, it looke your rays dont go deep enough. it is one of the settings in raytrace in render globals. you can try to put the reflect and refrat limits to 10 with the maya renderer.

indirect illumination works with mental ray (not sure if maya renderer supports it as well). for global illumination you need set not only the reflectivness but also the diffuse. you might also want to try out final gather - then you dont need lighta at all - you can illuminate e.g. with a not primary visible sphere with incandescene ...
