Complex UV Layout in Maya
Over the last couple of years UV layout in Maya has changed for the better. In this course we're going to be taking a look at some of those changes as we UV map an entire character

Heroes Hour Mod info, pics and recruitment

Hey, how goes it ?

The Heroes Hour Sp mod (formally know as the spr mod) for call of duty united offensive is recruiting talented Sp mappers and talented modelers

We are producing 20 sp maps for this mod all of which at current range from being basically planned, fully planned, under construction and practically completed.
The vast majority are based on real places in normandy and all battles take place between june 6th and june 11th

The mod consists of four campaigns, each 5 levels long.

1. Saving Private Pyan (following the films narrative strongly)
2. Race to Pointe-Du-Hoc (player is a sniper)
3. The road to Cherbourg (player is infantry support to a tank dev)
4. Rangers Lead the Way (player is an explosives expert)

Some of the maps included will be Omaha beach (95% complete), Ramelle (40% complete and looking fantastic, well done Annoyed !!!) Radar (85% complete thanks to Br3nt) and
Nueville (30% complete thanks to Janova)

The other campaigns will included maps such as Pointe Du Hoc, Carentan, Dead Mans Corner (a famous Normandy crossroads), and Utah beach.

Some of the models that are to be included at the present time are

138 Marder III
CCKW 6x6 2 12 ton truck
kleines Kettenkrad
Higgins boat
Omaha obsticles
Ramelle obsticles

and dead body models

New weapons will also be included such as a Browning Automatic Rifle with bipod function and a 20.cal machine gun

New realism eliments will be included (most of which are already implemented) such as mixed unit combat (rangers fighting alongside pathfinders etc) more efficent allied ai
(they will not miss 9 out of 10 shots) no auto zoom on unscoped weapons etc

The storylines will be unique as they interlink between campaigns with the player meeting characters they will play as at a later stage.

The game will include new level types such as evasion and will include new elements such as level starts that are non-combatent and friendly fire.

Another new eliment is seeing battle from more than one prespective such as ramelle in which the player will play at once as a rifleman and also as a sniper
(this is a previously unexplored idea)

whilst being 20 levels there will be 17 maps as 2 maps will be used twice as dawnville was an ramelle will feature from 2 points of view. We are using one previously created
mp map (st come du mont, thanks maverick) meaning there are actually 16 maps to be made. Five are already well underway thanks to our sp mapping team

The game will feature very unique new effects some of which are completed. The completed effects included

a biograph playing one of hitlers speeches on a pull down screen
flickering fire with ambient light included
a great fountain including many custom fx (these effects are thanks to our fx guy and prefaber marco.polo)

work is in progress on custom smoke for ramelle as well a dust cloud effects for the event in which pvt Upham to close to a tank shell impact

We have many custom tracks planned a few of which are already complete (thanks to our composer own soldier)

We also have weapon sounds (amoungst others) being put together by our sound department (Schutze , Randy_Shughart)

There are up to 3 sp mapping positions vacant and also 3 modeling positions

We do request proof of talent either in screenshots of previous work or work in progress. As we are busy with the mod and will be posting at many sites we also request that you
