texture assigned?

- in any panel click -> Shading and uncheck "Use Default Material", check "Smooth Shade All", check "Hardware Texturing"

- drag over any panel with your obj selected and hit w, e, r.

everything starts and ends in the right place at the right time.

I guess you haven´t the same settings in your persp panel´s Shading tab as in your side view´s. hmpf.. you could just for fun go to the attribute editor and click the shader tab. open "Hardware Texturing"

Texture Channel = Color
Texture Resolution = Highest

this will make no difference, did it? you might try creating another scene. can´t imagine what else the problem could be.

You are probaby running Maya 6 . . . I know, I have run into a similar problem, textures are ok, but scale/rotate/move tools in side, top, and front views sometimes work, most of the time do not. Damned if I can figure it out . . . . just got a new book that explains the basic Maya window-building mechanisms in MEL, maybe after a little study of that i can figure out what the problem is . . .

May just need to upgrade a little too. . .

I fixed it WITHOUT changing a thing for my graphics card. . . .

I looked in the Maya help file, found the way to access the tool settings . . . i.e. . .

1. Click a tool in the toolbox to make it active.

2. Double-click a tool to show the tool's options panel.

I did not have to change anything other than just double-click the
tool with the four panels open, and voila, my tools all appeared in every window . . . . .

Cool, thought it might, as I said this happend to me and this was the only thing that sorted it out.

I think its something to do with how the PC sorts out and processes data thats from a program going to the graphics card whilst processing other data, think it kinda misses bits that seem to duplicate or not seem important compared to other operations, by the time it's ready in the que to be processed its too late as its already displayed, and therefore is dropped.

Thats why the graphics card drivers help out as it tells the PC to send all graphics information to the GPU for processing in real time reather than via the CPU which might be swamped.

Bit of a basic description but there you go.

Just need to remember after a clean install of XP to install all of your drivers even though XP still recognises the card, printer or what have you, as being installed.
