Maya 2020 fundamentals - modelling the real world
Get halfway through a model and find it's an unworkable mess? Can't add edge loops where you need them? Can't subdivide a mesh properly? If any of this sounds familiar check this course out.

Some really excellent stuff here. I never seem to get the time to draw, and I think my skills have suffered a bit cos of that. Well I thought I'd share this with you guys. It's by a girl I used to work with and personally I think she's very talented. I asked her to draw me a samurai monkey so i could model him, 45 mins later she produced this (and a side profile of him too!):

Ha ha - that's very cool - I had been wondering about your avatar - It reminds me a little of planet of the Apes.

Yeah, I don't normally have an avatar but I just love his expression. Love the cloak and helmet too, it rocks user added image

was going through some pictures today and I found this unfinished painting from a couple of years ago - one of the last that I painted before starting maya.

Looks great Arran, kind of reminds me of a 60's/70's tv show like the man from UNCLE or the prisioner.

that looks real good, you should keep on doing this so you're not going to loose your skills.
Was it from memory or did you paint this from a photograph?

cheers

Grev_Mivlos - No Photoshop - just boring old oil paints. user added image

gster123 / farbtopf - this was actually taken from a still from the film Brazil by Terry Gilliam. yeah, I'd like to do some painting, but at the moment I am having too much fun with maya... user added image

I set my friend another challenge (last one was samurai monkey a few images back) just to keep her on her toes. I told her my idea for 'Rubberduckski' which was an idea based on an assignment whilst I was training. The idea is that this would be a vehicle for a mouse character. A motorised steed if you will! Crits and comments welcome, I'll pass them on. Cheers.
