Introduction to Maya - Rendering in Arnold
This course will look at the fundamentals of rendering in Arnold. We'll go through the different light types available, cameras, shaders, Arnold's render settings and finally how to split an image into render passes (AOV's), before we then reassemble it i

Sadly, unlike Max, simple curves cannot be rendered as is.

So to overcome this, you can simply create your curve(wire), then create a SMALL nurbs circle, and do an extrude along your curveuser added image

re wire!

Hi there,
Here is my Sopwith i tried doing the extrude thing to create the wires but i couldnt get them small enough, I think I have just realised that I have to change the cameras cutting plane to view real close. duh! or I could do them in Photoshop, but then I cant animate duh!

when you create your nurbs circle for the extrude's profile, you can type in a value for its radius, such as .01 or whatever to get it as small as you want.

Finished!

OK here is the finished Sopwith, I didnt use Mental Ray in the end as I cant get it to render using a Env texture. Off to the client today to see if we get the whole book. If we do get the job I'll be looking for some freelancers to help out!!

How did you do that ENV texture(s) anyway?

I quick rundown would be much appreciated

I can't get an ENV to render using the Maya renderer but it works using MR. Now that I don't get.

Env sky it is not! emmmm

This may suprise you but this is not an Env sky shader. There is an Env fog light to create the atmosphere haze and two planes mapped with cloud textures. The lower plane has thick clouds while the upper plane has thin light clouds, and use what ever you want for the ground plane.
P.S. how does your Mental ray render the env sky, it renders the Sopwith but the background just turns black!
