Hey, just wondering what the best way to convert Maya files to 3dStudio max files is. I get alot of different answers, and was wondering what the best way was. Thanks!

to go back and forth its usually obj, fbx, deep exploration
but there arent any .3ds eporters as it is native only to max,
just like .mb is to maya

You mean .max -- .3ds is Discreet's OBJ

OBJ actually is a Wavefront fileformat (Alias's purchased company)... so basically Alias has .mb/ma for full fledged saving, and .obj for limited saving while Discreet has .max for full saving and .3ds for limited saving.

You could try one of the new universal file formats like Collada.

you know, I found a 3d object converter that transferred between about 1300 file formats on the web, as well as it let you look at the model before you convert it. It wont convert .ma or .mb files, or .max files, but it will convert .obj and .3ds. So you might want to look into it: its free.
