Maya for 3D Printing - Rapid Prototyping
In this course we're going to look at something a little different, creating technically accurate 3D printed parts.

Gster123 - Winter Challenge

Well, think I should have the time (hopefully) for this.

I'm going to do a Speedball Player, for anyone thats never heard of it, its a game that was originally on the Amiga, its a futuristic game played with a metal ball where the object is to score goals, theres no rules as such just win, and was one of my fave games as a kid.

Ive just been looking for ref on the internet and it appears that a new versions coming out, but I think that i'll keep to my own design but with nods to the orginal and the sequel

That's weird - i've been trying to remember the name of that game ever since i started playing vortex on the ipod (not the same, but something about it reminded me of speedball) - cheers gster!

great game - i was always really crap at it - but it was a lot of fun. looking forward to seeing what you do with this.

Cheers Arran, Think I must have whittled hours away as a kid playing speedball 2 on the Amiga! used to love the total simplicity of it.

Made a base mesh for his head then took it into Z to define the areas etc, then back into maya to tweek the topology. He's not got any ears, well cos he wont need any as it will be covered with a helmet

Here you go

Added a bit more to him. probably going to have to model the body before addingthe armout to him so I get a sense of proportion, and some bits wont be covered completly.

Hehe me and my brother played speedball 2 to death...Remember the really annoying ice cream vendor who used to shout out at regular intervals? maybe you could make him also with a speedball in his mouth?-nice work mate-looking forward to seeing more of this one.

Cheers velociraptor1, yeah I remember him, he shouted every time you scored a goal, which if you were hammering some one like 160 - 0 was about every 4 seconds! haha.

Having a dig about on the internet aobut the new game of it that coming out theres a trailer for it and the same sound clip is in it!!!

Heres a bit of an update, given him some spinal armour.

looking good gster - really like the spinal armor and your mesh layout - not sure about the ear at the moment though - it doesn't seem like his ears could fit in there....

Cheers guys,

I keep tweeking that arran then going back LOL! I might get "Dr Ste's Body bits folder" open and get an ear to see if it will fit in there.

Onto modeling the body on monday me thinks as ita soemthing that I'll be using for my gait uni work in the future, so it shouldbe quite good progress if I dont get distracted.

I also need to think of textures and environment for him to be put into, the arena etc.
