Is there a way that i can change the way my particles look not using the blobby aand cloud stuff?

That would be sprite particles, as you can assign an image or image sequance to them. The snow tutorial we have goes over this process.

Their is actualy a website with snowflake designs, about 12 I thingk it was , cant remember the site but you can implement numerous sprite pics so the flakes dont look all the same. Dont remember how but their is a tut out their for it.

ok, thnx. I have another question and I'll ask it here just so I don't open a nother thread.
I have problems understanding how particles work in games. I waas wandering, when you use maya's particle system, what kind of particles can I use for modern games, like Half life 2, doom 3, Probably Serious Sam 2, etc.?

if I'm not mistaken, sprites are the only particles used in games.
