Introduction to Maya - Modeling Fundamentals Vol 1
This course will look at the fundamentals of modeling in Maya with an emphasis on creating good topology. We'll look at what makes a good model in Maya and why objects are modeled in the way they are.

July/Aug - Noob - t1ck135

Very very noob here, thought I'd have a try even if I cant finish it it's good to try user added image

Original concept idea is 2 people in a lightning storm (for some high contrast lighting). One is frozen and huddling in fear near a tree (crazy place to be!) and the other is having a go at the storm, or is even laughing in the face of it.

Went on to look at one of the fists of the annoyed dude in more detail and while messing with lighting thought that the annoyed dude could be a robot, maybe now protecting him and loathing the storm for debilitating his (master? friend?).
Also the robot dude must be hard as he runs the risk of being short circuited by the lightning so really like a soldier who has seen lots of battles he has scorn and hatred for the storm and what it can do.

Just started working on a female character this morning (dont expect it to be good!) which will 'possibly' become the robot on the hill.
Probably going to give it a human shape and then add fairly basic cylindrical parts to it. It wont have a detailed face as it's unlikely to be seen.

ur pretty good for a newbie... and your ability to draw makes me extremely envious, aswell as assists you when you are modelling.

your concept is interesting and i look forward to the final product. and don't worry, u've got ages still

I just box modelled it and then decided to cut the muscle groups in. Then just tidied up all the mad lines and 'tried' to make sure it was quad'ed as much as possible.

To save time (in case I need it later) I've opted to create a male counterpart based on the female model. It'll help with positioning and determining the composition and if I have time later then I'll come back and create a male model from scratch.

Next is carry on with the landscape and learn how to (gulp) rig the characters user added image
